The main objective of the SmartGEMS project is to analyze in detail all aspects of smart grids aimed at improving reliability, mitigating security risks, increasing load configuration and energy efficiency, optimal integration and generation-consumption adequacy, as well as intelligent monitoring and control. To do this, the goal of the SmartGEMS project is to use the concept of smart grids optimization and reliable operation as a common basis for collaboration and staff exchange between partners.

SmartGEMS is based on a three-phase expansion:

  1. The first phase begins with user aspects, focusing on the analysis of smart buildings and zero energy.
  2. In the second phase, research activities focus on the various components of smart grids that extend the cycle by penetrating smart networks at Community level.
  3. The third phase concerns the integration of all components intended for the development of intelligent applications for optimization purposes.
